I have a Kitchenaid "built-in" refrig. Model# KSSC42QMS02 built in 2006.

For the past couple of months the evaporator fan has been cycling on and off every few seconds. Typically it will run for about 20 seconds shut off for a couple of seconds and repeat that cycle just about 24/7. Some periods of the day the fan is louder than others.

I took the panel off in the freezer section and it's that fan. There was very little ice on the coils and the unit is working fine except for the fan cycling

One tech said it was probably the controller board but said that board was made in a factory where the Japan earthquake took place and said there were not any new boards. He said the only thing you could do was get the board repaired. He didn't want to touch it and passed.

I called Kitchenaid, their tech came out but of course it wouldn't exhibit that problem while he was here.

I went to ********************************.com and I would think it might be the Electronic control PART NUMBER: 2259350 at $68.00
or Electronic control PART NUMBER: 2307028 (Substitution: W10219463R) but you can only get that part through Sears Home Service.

Any thoughts and input would be most appreciated.

Thank you.
