Question burned out
Model Number: MSD2142ARW   Brand: Maytag   Age: 5 - 10 years

part has BURNED out and don't know what it is called and can't really find one that looks like it on the internet to order a new one. If anyone can tell me what it is it would help me in my search. It is a small white square shaped plastic box that plugs into the left side of the compressor and has three different wires that plug into it. These wires are orange, white and blue.

Default relay/capacitor

From your description it sounds as tho your relay/capacitor assembly has burned and it was enough to melt the plastic cover... APPros has the diagram, just input your model number to the parts info section and you'll see the breakdown... You'll want to replace the relay, capacitor, overload, and plastic cover if it indeed melted...
