The light bulb on the refrigerator side by side made a hissing sound when the door was opened and then went out. I tried to replace it with a 40 Watt appliance bulb and then tried the freezer bulb in the refrigerator and both did not work. The control panel is out as well but the refrigerator still cools properly. I even unplugged the refrigerator to maybe "reset" it. Some of the blogs indicate that when the life span of the bulb ends, it triggers a surge that fries some points on the circuit board which explains why a new bulb won't work because the circuit board is damaged. What do you think and is there any more troubleshooting I can do? The refrig. is approx. 6 years old.
