Hello, I had a problem with this fridge a couple of months ago.
It's a Crosley Shelvador side by side, NNS228GA (BOM: 7L41A).

The compressor wouldn't start, (no cooling) but there was no noise. I replaced the start relay kit and it worked for a month or two. Then it quit cooling again,(even seemed to be getting warmer inside) and I was hearing a buzzing like sound from down in front of the fridge, behind the front vent louvers, under the fridge. The sound was coming from the defrost timer. I removed it, and it rattled like something had come loose inside.

Would the compressor and fan not come on at all during the defrost cycle? Could the timer have gotten frozen up on the defrost cycle?

Thanks for your help!

Timers should not rattle.

Yes.
Also the evaporator/freezer fan is off during defrost.
