I have a new compressor start device that was upgraded from the original part. How/ what wires do I connect as there are 4 wires and only two places for them on the device? Repair ************ assures me that I do in fact have the correct part.

Is the old start device the same as this sites AP4000197, and you had a thin overload plugged in the top pin? If so, and you failed to note where the wires connected to it, then you have real problems. If you wire it up wrong, you would probably blow out your compressor.
If the new device has three compressor pins, and just plugs in the compressor, you will be ok, impossible to burn out the compressor.
