Black oil like substance leaking from bottom left side
Woke up with oil leak on floor. Motor?
|
Your Model Number is incorrect, please check it.
The only thing with oil in it, in a fridge is the motor. So if it came from the fridge you have a major problem. I would shut off the unit till you can determine the source. |
Model # from Sears Manual 253 or 970
Label inside door is Model 253-73754302.
Thanks. I am sure it's MAJOR! |

You had said motor so I used the same terminology actually it is an oil filled compressor.

Black stuff is likely
It is possible your compressor is overheating and the shell is oozing its bonding/sealing gasket material becaue of the heat. The lubricating oil could also be leaking out a bad gasket. It is either failing on its own, or a continuous call for cooling (stuck thermostat or dirty coils) is making it run too much. There is usually a thermal limit switch built in to the compressor which is likely bad in addition to the other things. (This would allow it overheat).
