Here are your parts

Just to clarify your post.
The unit runs when cooling OK but when it goes into the defrost mode the temperature in the freezer gets too warm.
Is this correct?

If the above is correct then I would replace the defrost thermostat.

I could not find a wiring diagram for this unit so am doing a bit of guessing.
The timer is a 12 hour timer so it goes into a defrost cycle every 12 hours or every 12 hours of compressor on time.
The defrost time is fixed, it is usually 20 to 30 minutes and does not vary.
So in defrost, the defrost heater comes on. Once all the ice is melted off the evaporator coils the defrost thermostat opens killing power to the heater.
The defrost cycle then continues to run till the timer switches back to cooling mode but the heater is off.
