![]() Model Number: KSSS48QDW04 Brand: Kitchen Aid Age: More than 10 years
![]() Hello dear experts, Here is the update and another query. I replaced the 3 in 1 relay that my mechanic (now fired) put in with the original relay (Whirlpool 819160 Overload/relay Kit - AppliancePartsPros.com) and it worked like a charm. But now we are running into another issue. The fridge section is getting too cool so I did the testing and here is what it looks like so far. 1) Thermistor shows nice resistance but it looks like the numbers are a bit off. It shows 6300 Ohm which is corresponding to the 45F, while the actual temperature in the refrigerator is much lower. 2) If I disconnect the Thermistor the air baffle door closes, otherwise it stays always open. 3) I put the Thermistor in the freezer to bring down the temperature reading and then reconnected it to the harness. It caused the air baffle to close. That means it communicated with the control board and called for the air baffle motor to operate. I am trying to see if it is the control board issue or thermistor issue. In the service manual they asked to test the voltage as well, I followed the steps that they listed: get the fridge into cooling mode, then shut it off and then test the voltage on the harness using 10DC setting. I got no reading, but it might be because I am doing something wrong. What is the easy way to test which part is malfunctioning, having the information that I provided so far. Related Models |

![]() I just found out that the readings were for a different thermistor - the later model: KSSS48K or KSSS48Q. This is the only service manual I could find. the thermistor is a bit more modern model: Whirlpool 2188820 Thermistor - AppliancePartsPros.com
The question is if this is similar Ohm rating as the model that I have. is there anywhere I can find the manual for my fridge or alternatively for that thermistor: Part number: 1116959 ? |

![]() There are no manuals for such old refrigerator but it looks to me that the thermistors are identical. The most important for you is that if you order it from APP and it would not fix the problem, then you can easy return the part.
Gene.

![]() Dear Gene,
Thank you so much for your kind help and explanation. Here is my struggle, the newer thermistor is 1/3 of the price of the old one. The only difference I see visually is that the new one is a closed version and the old one has this metal part in the front. How much risk I am taking by ordering the cheaper and the newer one? Ola |

![]() What are the "newer" and "old one" thermistors? Part numbers?

![]() Yes, but only by their temperature/resistance readings. And due to the lack of manuals it was just my educated guess. I understand your point and you can give it a try.
Gene.
