I have a Frigidaire refrigerator(model#GLRT13TEW4). The freezer gets cold, but after a while, several hours maybe, everything in the freezer will begin to melt. I replaced the defrost thermostat and the defrost timer. It is still doing the same thing. I noticed that the freezer will begin to lose cold until items inside melt. At that point I give it a whack with my hand, right where the defrost timer is located inside the fridge, then I hear what i assume is the compressor kick on and the freezer starts blowing cold immediately. I just found this post:
http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/refrigerator-freezer-repair/404681-defrost-thermostat.html

My problem is defrosting, not the opposite which the above link is about, but it includes good testing tips. Im going to go down the list maybe tomorrow. Im just baffled why whacking the defrost timer would make the thing work.

Instead of giving it a thump move the main temperature control back and forth.
It could be that it's contacts are sticking open.
