I ordered a new thermostate,the one sent to me part#wr9x521, is 25% the size. of the one on the refrigerator. The mounting is on top where mine is on the side. Help

Looks like the GE part number you quoted is correct as shown on the given part.
Would be best if you contact the parts people directly.
