This is an upright freezer we purchased 3 years ago. What is happening is that the freezer reaches its set operating temp ,the compressor and fan turn off but will not come back on unless the freezer is unplugged and plugged back in the outlet. Any suggestions on what might be wrong with it ? Thanks

Here are your parts
Parts for Frigidaire FFU21F5HWG Freezer - AppliancePartsPros.com

Here is the wiring diagram

Sounds like the control (item 151 in the Door Parts section) is shot.
Click on it's picture for more info and a Q&A section about it.

To confirm check for 120 voltage across the compressor when it should re-start, if there is no voltage then I would replace the control.

Thanks Denman for your quick reply there is no voltage across the compressor and I will replace that board to start . Just another thing it started to do this morning was that it doesnt turn off at all even after reaching its operating temp(3) until i unplug the unit from the outlet then it turns off. It will turn back on after plugging it back in the outlet as long as I set the digital temp to a higher setting . Could this be the same defective board or another problem as well ? Thanks again

Yes this also sounds like a board problem.

Thanks Again Denman for your response I will order it now , I'm hoping you ship to Canada ... BTW should I try cycling the freezer off for a couple of hrs throughout the day so that the compressor /fan doesn't burn out by being constantly on until I get my part ?

Thanks Again for your help

Joe
