Light on ice/water dispenser does not shut off.
Model Number: MSD2754GRW Brand: Maytag Age: 5 - 10 years
The ice dispenser light on our Maytag side by side started acting up about two months after we purchased it from one of the Big Box stores. I called Maytag and they would cover the part, but not the labor. I called the only two affiliates in our area and it was $75.00 for the service call. Since then the bulb has just been unscrewed. I asked if they would supply the part ,but they declined. Last Maytag for me.
Everything else works like it should. The ice, water, lock feature and the filter reset all work just fine. All of the LEDs work and the switches except for the light. Is this an issue with the control board or with the actuator/switch? If you screw the bulb in, it will glow bright. If you push the light button, it dims, but never cuts off. I am hoping that it is one of the resistors or diodes on the board located on the back of the cover.
I had an issue with the ice dispenser where it was stuck in crush mode, but I figured that out. The part that moves at the front of the crusher had been knocked out of alignment and I popped it back into place where the control rod was moving the piece back to allow cubes to pass by the blades. I guess someone pushed on this part and made the rod pop out.
Since fixing this issue, it would be nice to fix the light as well.
Thanks for any help,
Texasbear
