My Amana bottom freezer refrigerator worked okay until 4 days ago when it froze everything in the refrigerator part. Model # ARB2217CW; MFG No. PARB2217CWD. I unplugged it for 24 hours and it refroze within 12 hours. When I plugged it back in, it blew cold from the back. It seems that the compressor is constantly on and I can see cold smoke blowing from the front (by the light) where the temperature set is. It is set on lowest; 1-2. Can someone help?

Could be a couple things.

Check that the damper between the freezer and fresh foods sections is itclosing. See the "Controls" section. Note this is a mechanical thermostat that opens/closes the vents.

Could the the main thermostat is is shot (contacts welded together)
Check the freezer temp, should be 0 to 8 degrees F.
If much lower then it is probably the thermostat.

I would lean towards the first option. Perhaps the reason that the compressor runs continuously is that it cannot keep the freezer at the proper temp when a large amount of the cold air is being diverted to the fresh food section.
