Model Number: FRS6LF7FB5 Brand: Frigidaire Age: 5 - 10 years
Fridgidaire side by side stopped freezing "sub-zero".
The freezer coil inside the freezer compartment is frozen, but only on the top inch or so. I tried to start a manual defrost by pushing the Fridge Lightswitch 5 times after opening. Never heard a click and could not tell a change. I would think I'd be able to measure the voltage feeding the heating element to see if the ADC is trying to defrost? but I can't see the ADC even trying...(by listening for a relay click). The compressor and both fans never stop. The compressor and fans appear to be fine. ADC? Appreciate any help or ideas. Thanks much. Appreciate any help. Ads By Google Related Models |

Here are your parts
Parts for Frigidaire FRS6LF7FB5 Refrigerator - AppliancePartsPros.com It does not sound like a defrost problem. For defrost to cause a problem the coils have to be iced/frosted over to the point where the evaporator fan cannot pull air through them. Sounds like a sealed system problem, low freon etc. Here is a link. Take a look at the example pictures, about half way down the page. http://www.applianceaid.com/refriger...old-enough.php

I believe you are most likely right Picture 1 is exactly what I saw couple days ago. I unplugged it to allow it to defrost. Plugged it back in last night, and today I notice NO cooling at all in the freezer, but, I believe you guys call it the capilary tube (from what I've been reading) was frozen right at what I think you all call the filter, it's copper and about the size of the old CO2 Cartridges we used to use in our BB pistols as kids.
The Capilary tube(?) is freezing starting at that 'filter' for about 6 inches... that is in the area VERY close to the compressor. I guess it's not feasable for a jackleg to tackle that repair huh? Thanks so much Denman. I was hoping to get this working and donate it to a family in need at our church. I've already replaced it here at the house. Appreciate the info. and if you have any new ideas based on above, please share. Rob Quote:
