Model Number: BR18V1W Brand: Amana Age: More than 10 years
I have a refurbished fridge from the 90s. I bought it in August of last year. A couple of days ago it stopped working, and so I unplugged it to let it defrost thinking that some ice had gotten into a valve or something. It did not work when I turned it on again. Today I moved it around just a little bit, and it started working again.
This is weird and a bit surprising to me. I know very little about fridges, but I understand the basic principle of how they work. So I don't know why this would be. It was apparently dead for days. I am quite broke, like very broke, and while parts are still covered under the stores warrantee, I will have to pay for the technicians fee. He is probably going to look at it and say "it's working" and leave. Then I will be out 45$ for absolutely nothing. But if something is wrong with my fridge I want it fixed before it breaks again and I possibly have to pay for all the fees, including very expensive parts. So what do you think? What would cause a dead and totally defrosted fridge to start working again after being jostled around? What should I ask for the technician to look for and possibly fix?
