Hello, please help troubleshooting refer/freezer issue; not cooling at all; there's a noise underneath (clicking); tried to rotate defrost timer manually (no help); I don't hear the compressor cutting on. Thank you in advance for anyones input. P.S there's no sign of frosting in the freezer prior to unit thawing out. Thanks again.

Remove the cover on the back of the fridge and see if the clicking noise is coming from the compressor.

Check if the cooling fan next to the compressor is running and how hot is the compressor.

Post your findings.

Gene.

Mr. Gene, Thanks for your reply; unfortunately this happened to us(w/kids) saturday nite; just to cry on your shoulders a bit; we were suppose to entertain some family/friends superbowl sunday; we cancelled all plans; we are still living off coolers and buying lots of ice to salvage our food ; anyway today (eastern time) got home, sat in front of fridge for a whole hour and to listen; the noise is a clicking noise sounds like a relay going in and out, approx 3seconds on and I hear the compressor kick in during that 3seconds with a soft buzzing sound, this occurs every 3-4 minutes apart; I will do as you have instructed possibly tonight. Thank you again for your reply. P.S. I did call Maytag to let them know what has happened and that we are dissapointed with the product; our old fridge( 11+) was'nt even a Maytag is with my nephew still working, so go figure; this Maytag is only 2 and half years old.
