Model Number: ABC2037dtb Brand: Amana Age: 5 - 10 years
A few weeks ago a buzz started coming from the compressor area(underneeth) and now it is more requent and there is a click after it happens. I have two of the same models side by side. The one that is not clicking has more heat coming from the coil area.

Hi.
What you hear is the compressor trying to start. Check if the condenser motor is running (one next to the compressor) and if it does - cool down the compressor, remove the start components and using the multimeter check compressors three contacts for continuity between them and the ground. If there is continuity between three pins and no continuity to the ground - replace the starting device Part number: 67005560 If there is no continuity at the compressor contacts or there is continuity to the ground, that indicates bad compressor. Here are the breakdown diagrams and 02-Compressor parts for Amana ABC2037DTB - AppliancePartsPros.com Use the opportunity to clean the condenser coils while you are there. Post the results. Simon.

I installed a new compressor starting device, but still the buzz click with the new starter and capacitor. I guess I am headed for a new compressor? Are there any other options before I bite the big one?
I guess now I know it's a bad compressor I will like the buzz click to know the compressor is not tits up and my beer will be getting warm. |

Hello,
I did check the compressor as follows: VAC in 118V Continuity between all three poles, and none to ground Ohms between top and side poles rangeing from 4.8 to 12 Is there any other test to determine bad compressor? |

Hi.
The compressor could still be bad even if it passes the electrical test. Try to install the "3in1" booster just to turn the motor if it's not completely out.If the compressor will kick on replace it with the standard starting devise. Part number: TJ90RCO410 Post the results. Simon.

Hi.
The 3 in 1 is not a permanent solution, unless the factory specified devise doesn't work and you technically have nothing to loose. Having the 3in1installed permanently may cause start winding burn out, but nobody can tell you how long before it'll happens. Post the results. Simon.
