fan and compressor wont start

fan and compressor wont start

Model Number: 596.52679200 Brand: Kenmore Age: More than 10 years

i was cleaning the coils under the fridge and while it was plugged in i lifted the side of the fridge that the compressor is on approximately 6 inches of the ground and looked under to see if there was easier access to coils. well there is not as an aluminum bottom plate covers them. now i cannot plug in the fridge with out it sounding like its trying to start and the fan does start only to immediately sop. i have lights but no compressor or fan. what did i do?

I would check the start device on the side of the compressor. Shake it if it rattles, its bad. Order a new one on this site and make sure you note how it's wired.
