Our ice maker was doing very weird things, and ultimately stopped working consistently. It was not turning the ice out of the tray, and then filler tube was leaking water, which would drip down the back of the freezer and create BIG icicles.

After some reading, I replace both the water valve, and the ice maker itself. The good news is, with the ice maker in the "on" position, ice is being make consistently and the bucket filled up. At that point, i turned the ice maker off.

It's been off for about 4 days now, and I took another look and found the filler tube to be frozen. Most things I read suggest that the water valve is leaking, but the part is brand new! So now if i turned the ice maker back on, water wouldn't make it to the tray b/c it's blocked by ice in the tube? What else should I be looking at???
