my kitchen aid side by side stopped making ice, and there is no water in the tray, but the door water works fine. The red indicator blinks twice, then goes out when I press the door close button. I turned the unit off and left the door open for over 3 hours thinking this would unfreeze a frozen line, but still nothing. I tried a hair dryer, but that also did nothing but burn my fingers. I do not know how to take the unit apart to get more heat on the line, or if there is another problem. HELP.

Close the flapper on the left side of the freezer, optics led should no longer blink, but be on.
If ok, go in the back of the fridg and temporarely swap the dual water solenoid wires and press the water fountain for 6 to 9 seconds, icemaker mold should fill with water and icemaker should work.

I tried one more time....I turned the freezer off, opened the door for 2 hours, then took out the hair dryer and blasted the black rubber tube, then massaged it like another post suggested. I then turned everything back on and a few hours later heard the joyful sound of ice clunking into the bucket!!!! Thanks for all the great posts, your site is now my go to for appliance problems.

Some reasons for line freeze are condensing coils blocked, or freezer too cold, should be 0- 5 degrees, average.

my freezer came pre-set to 0 degrees, should I change it to 4 or 5 degrees? Thanks again.
