Model Number: KSRS25IHSS02 Brand: Kitchen Aid Age: More than 10 years
I have a Kitchenaid Side by Side Refrigerator, Model KSRS25IHSS02. We were out running errands and the ice maker apparently went haywire. When we got home, ice and water all in the freezer and all over the kitchen floor. Turned the ice maker off and cleaned everything up and turned the ice maker back on and nothing. Would not fill with water or anything. When I open the freezer door, the Ice Maker Control red sensor light is blinking twice rapidly with about a 1 second interval before it blinks twice again. When I press in the emitter flapper door (On the left side) to unblock the optics beam, it does the same thing. No change….blink twice, pause for a second and blinks twice again. From what I have read in previous posts, sounds like the optics are bad. Would that also have caused all the flooding? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi again....finally got around to replacing the optics. Replaced them yesterday. When you open the door optics light blinks twice with a 1 second delay then does so again. When I push in the flapper door, light stays lit continuously. From what I read that means optics are working. However, the ice maker has not filled with water and is not making ice. Any advice on what I should check next? THANKS!!

Pull off the icemaker front and place a voltmeter meter in test points N and L and at the same time close the flapper and door switches.LED should go invisible and You should get 115 volts in a few minutes. If not, you have bad wiring to the optics, rather common. If ok, replace the icemaker.
