If you did go through all 6 steps then looks like the new ice maker is defective. It has to be exchanged under the part warranty.

Hi,
I have a Whirlpool GD5PHAXLQ01 and the ice maker is not filling with water. I saw on a a thread on this forum (Whirlpool Side by Side Ice maker not making ice.) where it was suggested to swap the wires between the green and red solenoids on the water inlet valve and then depress the water dispenser release lever for a few seconds and check if there is some water in the ice maker. However, the connectors for the wires to my green and brown solenoids on my water inlet value are different sizes. The wire plug for the brown solenoid will not plug into the green solenoid. Also I do not know where to find the water dispenser release lever. I do get water to the front door dispenser, so the main water line and the water filter is not blocked. Is there any test I can perform to troubleshoot my ice maker problem? Thanks, John |

John,
You can use a pieces of insulated wires to connect these plugs. Make sure they are not touching each other and any other metal parts. The "release lever" is what you push to get a drinking water form the dispenser on the door. Gene.

Hi Gene,
Thanks so much for your super fast reply! I tried what you suggested and when I pressed the front door water dispenser, the ice maker did fill with water. I just wanted to confirm that I should order the ice maker Part number: AP3182733. Thanks again for all your help!!! John |

I'm having problems making ice on my Whirlpool GC5SHEXNQ00.
When I first noticed the problem, there were a few cubes that were stuck in the upper back of the producing tray so I removed them. After that, still a problem, and the red light was off completely. I fiddled around a little pushing my fingers down into the spaces for each cube in the front part of the rotating ice producer and the red light went on like it should - double blinks when door open, solid red when I held the sensor flap against the side. It made maybe 4 cubes (not a full tray) and then the light was off again. This time I stuck my fingers into the back part of the ice producer since there were white prongs in the front sections so I couldn't do anything there. Now the light went back on and 3 more cubes got made? This happened one more time on/off - but... actually as I was writing this a full tray of cubes got produced and the red light is still on. Do you have any idea what caused the problem, just in case the red light stops again? I don't know why my fingers touching all the cubes in the producing tray would turn it back on, or why it stopped multiple times. Thanks! Jim |

I spoke too soon. Now the red light won't come on at all no matter what I do. Does this mean it's an intermittent problem, and that the sensor needs replacing? Or might it be something else? What part would I get if it's the sensor?
Thanks! Jim |
