Hi,
I recently purchased a used Kenmore 106.8262580 upright freezer from an estate. The previous owner paid the $40/yr warranty since purchase (1988), and the compressor died around a year ago. Sears came out and replaced the compressor with an embarco, looks brand spanking new. Also new was the start relay.

Problem is, yesterday, the freezer was off and wouldn't go back on. Tried swapping out different plugs, etc., moving the thermostat. Compressor was warm but wouldn't kick on. After disconnecting everything for about two hours, I plugged it back in and it's been working fine since. This is the first time in about three months that this has happened.

Any thoughts on what may have caused this? Is there a way to check common problems that may be associated with this? I have a multimeter.
Thanks! Adam

Hi.

You really can't check anything if the unit is working fine.

Simon.

Wait till it stops again, then tap the cold control 4389248 and see if it comes on. This assumes everything has stopped running when it fails.

Thanks, I'll make sure to do that. In the meantime, the meat stays in a more reliable freezer!
