Our fridge was made in 2001. About 4 years ago we had to put in a new motor and it's been fine, until about two weeks ago when it just stopped making ice.

I tried to check the light codes from the sensor, but I have no lights at all. Is that a pretty good indication that I simply need to replace the boards?

I also removed the ice maker and soaked it in hot water to be sure nothing was frozen up in there. After reinstall, I got it to cycle through one last time by pouring my own water into the tray, but now the white tines are angled upward and it won't do anything.

Should I just try the boards first? Anything other suggestions on things to check? Thanks!

So, new emitter boards in place. Most of the time I open the freezer and get no light signals at all. If I press the "door close" lever, the light flashes evenly about every second.

If I then fiddle with the flap that covers the lefthand emitter board, I will sometimes get the double flash, pause, double flash. If I open the door later, there will usually be no lights at all again.

Never does the icemaker itself do anything. Electrical short? Icemaker itself broken? Would broken icemaker cause the emitter boards to act so erratically?
