Fridge and freezer stopped working the other day. I clean all coils and fans 3-4 times per year. All signs pointed to compressor starter, so I installed a new one. Old was was badly burned and charred.
Plugged fridge in and nothing happened. After about 10 minutes, fans started.
Fridge and freezer were both at 69d when it started. In 2 hours, freezer has gotten down to 16d, fridge is only down to 56.
I had to use an aftermaket universal starter, and one of the contacts on the compressor was so badly burned I had to rig up a connection.
Will the fridge catch up, or may I have another issue?
Thanks for your help

I use a dremmel and grinding stone to dress pins that have molten metal on them. Only way to enable a start device pin to be pushed on.
