Model Number: 253.44123802 Brand: Kenmore Age: 1 - 5 years
I have an Electrolux E32AR75FPS1 also known as: Kenmore Pro 253.44123802 refrigerator. It is around 3 years old. Every once in a month, I had to remove the cover to my evaporator to manually defrost the ice build-up in my unit. The ice builds up so bad that it reaches up into my fan, causing the fan to make noise when it "scapes" on the ice. I was thinking that somehow, my evaporator isn't getting "defrosted". So I purchased a switch-termination part # 216731001 and installed it myself. It still doesn't work and it still build up ice. The heater-defrost had some resistance (don't remember the specs), so I thought that it was working. Is there a "defrost timer" for this refrigerator or is it called something else (box control, overlay control)? I was going to order the heater-defrost and the "chip" that control it, but thought that it would be wise to ask an expert before I proceed. If my thermister is bad, would it contribute to ice build up as well? If so, where is it located and how many are used in this fridge?
Thank you in advance for any recommended diagnostic suggestions. Your time and help is greatly appreciated.. Megan Ads By Google Related Models |

Hi Megan,
These two refrigerators are not absolutely identical. So what is the model number of your refrigerator? Gene.

Thank you for your reply Gene,
My model number from the door panel is 253.44123802 and it is a Kenmore PRO bought at Sears. --sorry about the "Electrolux" thingy, because the Sears man told me its identical, and that when I have it repaired, I should call it the Electrolux. Maybe he was wrong? I thought more people would be more familiar with the Electrox vs the Kenmore Pro--my mistake.-- I need a list of recommended part(s) that could contribute to the problem of ice build-up in my evaporator. I am willing to order multiple parts to get this thing fixed. Any diagnostic advise would greatly be appreciated. I have a volt/ohm meter and I'm pretty good with my hands. Just need your advice. Thanks again.. Last edited by meganrovinski : 11-26-2012 at 11:50 PM. |

You are welcome Megan,
You said that the defrost heater had some resistance so, most likely it is good. I believe the problem is a bad control board (inside the control box). - The control board Part number: 297112400 Gene.

Hello Gene,
Thank you for your reply. Before I place my order for the control board#297112400, do you by chance have a link to a schematic of its location on my unit? I tried to locate a picture/ diagram of it on this site to no avail. I just want to make sure it fits my Kenmore Pro#253.44123802. Thanks again.. Megan |

Hi Megan,
As I said it is located inside the control box. You can use the diagram for the model number E32AR75FPS1 even the part numbers are different. It is shown as #151. Gene. P.S There is nothing to worry about parts return if you'll order it from APP.
