Hello,

I have a 6 year old GE PFCS1NJW refrigerator. Both the freezer and the refridge have warmed up and will not keep cool.

It appears that the compressor simply will not turn on.

There is a fan near the compressor and that is running. There is also a fan in the freezer area and that is running as well.

I have removed the main board and visually inspected it and there are no burn marks or any other visual evidence of problems.

There is also an electronics board plugged into (three prong plug) the compressor and I have visually inspected that as well. It appears fine. No burns. No smell.

I don't hear any clicking sounds except maybe when I first plug the refrigerator in. It's hard to tell what that is because it only seems to happen once.

After reading everything I can, it sounds like it could be a thermistor, but it is not easy to test. I don't have a voltage meter and I don't have ice.

I understand, that even though there is no visual evidence, it still may be the main board. If I bought a voltage meter will that help me test the MB? I'm unclear on how to do that, but interested in learning.

Can anyone offer any advice on what else I should be looking at?

I would check the main board for bad solder connections in the back.

I have pulled the main board out and checked the front and back. There is nothing obviously wrong.

If there was a bad solder connection would I be able to see it?

I was under the impression it might appear burned or something.

Look carefully on the back of thepower relay on the board.
From all indications, your main board is not sending voltage to the inverter module. You should use a meter to confirm.

Hello - I was not able to test the main board so I went ahead and ordered one from your site.

It came today. That was very fast. Thank you.

Unfortunately, after hooking it up the compressor failed to come on. There was 'click' the instant I plugged in the refridge. After a moment the fan came on, but not the compressor.

Any other ideas?

Might want to re-post as a probable inverter problem. Without meter info, rather hard to diagnose.
