Model Number: W8TXNGMWB02 Brand: Whirlpool Age: 1 - 5 years
I just bought a new house. The refrigerator was purchased 1-2 years ago by the previous owners. As far as I can tell, the ice maker is not hooked up to water. When I move things around in the freezer, if they hit the arm that turns it on, it makes horrible noises. I don't need it, and the ice maker plus the arm takes up a lot of freezer space. Can it be removed? If so, is it possible to do myself (I'm not real handy, but would try if it's easy), or is it best done by an appliance repair person? Thanks for any advice.

Yes, it's easy to do. Remove the two screws in the mold brackets that hold it to the side wall above the ice mold, and one screw in the white bracket on the bottom. Unplug the connector and it's out. The fill tube will also pull out.
