compressor only stays on couple of seconds
Model Number: ksrt25crbl01 Brand: Kitchen Aid Age: 5 - 10 years
My fan runs and have power to compressor, but compressor only stays on for couple of seconds. I couldn't get a ohms reading coming off the two prongs on the compressor starting device. Am I checking the right things?

Hi.
Unplug the unit. Remove the start components from the compressor and check continuity between 3 compressor's prongs and to the ground. If there is continuity between the prongs and non to the ground - replace the starting devise Part number: 2319792 Make sure that the compressor is cooled down and condenser coils are clean. It's the male prongs. Replace the start devise. Simon.

It's very important what you and I call "the male prongs".
It's the 3 prongs on the compressor it self. If there is no continuity between those prongs - then you need a new compressor. Simon.

You have continuity from the compressor's pin to the "ground"? Check to any copper tube from any of the three pins.
