Model Number: EB9FVBXWQ02 Brand: Whirlpool Age: 1 - 5 years
hello, recently fridge has become too warm, and freezer is way too cold. removed panels and defrosted with a hairdryer. worked for a week, fans are working, and top fridge vent opens but cannot feel air coming out of opening.
any suggestions? could it not be auto defrosting. it has a so-called accu-temp system. thanks in advance. john. Ads By Google Related Models |

Go to web site, www,applianceaid.com for a proceedure to force defrost. If it goes into defrost and the evaporator starts to defrost, you have a bad control board, if not, a bad defrost thermostat or heater.

Here are your parts
Parts for Whirlpool EB9FVBXWQ02 Refrigerator - AppliancePartsPros.com Here is the tech sheet. First remove the evaporator cover in the freezer so you can see the coils. Do not let them de-ice. If yes. Manually force a defrost cycle, see the tech sheet. When the fans and compressor turn off, you are in defrost. Now check the defrost heater to see if it is on. Be careful you do not want to burn your fingers. If the heater is on then the control board (Item 5 in the Refrigerator Liner section). If not on. Unplug the unit. Remove the wire for one side of the heating element (Item 10 in the Unit Parts section ) from the wiring and measure it for continuity, usually around 30 ohms or so. If the heater is OK Remove one wire to the defrost thermostat and measure it, should be 0 ohms when frozen. Note that it opens just above freezing so must be frozen to check it. Also inspect it, if it is bulged at all replace it even if it measures OK. I could not find it in the parts but it should be clipped to the evaporator coils. If both the above are OK then odds are the control board is toast.

thankyou both for your help and quick replies. looks like it's the control board. thanks again for the excellent advice and speedy reply! I live in an area where it's hard to get decent clothes let alone a repairman. unbelievably appreciated!
