I have a 6-7 yr old Maytag MSD2651HEW that quit cooling and was making a buzzing noise. I was told to get a new start relay which I did and it ran for about 24 hours. I unplugged it and rechecked everything and fired it back up again and it ran flawlessly for over a week. Now the buzzing has started again but not a frequent. The start relay feels really warm and it looks like a bit of discoloration on one side of the wire in the plastic connector.

I am a single mom and can not afford a new compressor right now. Today I saw something about a Supco Pro41 hard start or something which seem to be about $10. WOuld these be a good option? Could it be something else? Could the new part be defective? Thanks for any help!

NEVER use a hard start device in any fridg. They wiil burn out a modern compressor and possably start a house fire.
Seems like you have a burnt connection in the start device. You should replace the spade terminal and replace the start device as it probably is burnt inside.

I see lots of people where it is working great and no issues so I was curious. Obviously there is some other issue then. If start relays keep burning up there is another issue or I got a bad part. When the fridge runs it runs extremely well.

I borrowed an ohmmeter and did a short test and tested the resistance between pins. I got 8.5, 3.9 and 5.2

Does this mean anything to anyone?

Resistance measurements only show the windings are not blown open.
