I got my new refrigerator today and moved the old one to the basement. We need to eventually have a water line run to it (in the basement) so that we can make ice and dispense water, but we probably won't be doing it in the very near future. We would like to empty the water tank so that water doesn't just sit in it. I was able to loosen the tank from the back wall, but unsure how to take hose off tank to drain. Is this possible? If I do it will there be any clamps or fittings that will be damaged and need to be replaced? Hopefully not since they no longer make this tank and have a new replacement hose model. Don't really want to sink that much into a 15yr old frig. It is a Frigidaire PureSource FRS22ZRG tank part # is 218942701. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

If you did not open it yet then just leave it as is. There is nothing to worry about. You will have to flash it out anyway.
