Test a heater element???
Model Number: HSM25GFTASA Brand: Hotpoint Age: 5 - 10 years
I have a unit that the evaporator has consistantly frosted badly. I have already replaced the thermstat on the evaporator and the condenser fan.
The door gaskets are good and I don't suspect a refrigerant leak. I believe my defrost heating element may be the problem and I would like tp know if there are certain resistance (ohm) values to expect. Thank you for your help... Ads By Google Related Models

Hi.
Turn the fridge off, remove the cover from the control board at the rear . Locate the J9 contact at the 3 wire plug and the J7 plug pin9.With one of the plugs removed check the resistance (freezer must be ice cold while checking). You should read at least 22 ohm. If there is no continuity -replace the defrost heater Part number: WR51X10055 If the resistance is OK - replace the control board Part number: WR55X10942 Simon.
