Nice article. However, you do not even mention testing refrigerator parts in the actual article. Maybe you should stick in the intro paragraph to this thread into the actual article so it is a better and more searchable document for the future.

Keep up the good work!

I think so this will help to check your refrigerator. It is assumed that you have good familiarity with your machine and a "handy" guy or gal. This manual is the perfect companion for the appliance owner who is technically adept at the repairing arts but just needs to know a few "tricks" to point them in the right direction so they can fix their appliance.

Bohdan,

What is the complete model number of the refrigerator?

Can you post it in a new thread, please?

Gene.

Question Defrost Timer

I need help locating the defrost timer on my 6 year old Amana refrigerator, model #DRSE663BW. I am having problems with the freezer coils freezing up, causing the refrigerator's temperature to drop, becoming to warm. It almost appears as if there is not one. Any help you can give would be appreciated.

robinson35,

There is no defrost timer in your refrigerator. The defrost cycle operated by the Adaptive Defrost Control (#13 on the break down diagram) which is an electronic part.

Remove the rear panel in the freezer and check for continuity the defrost thermostat (#11 on the break down diagram) and the defrost heater (#14 on the break down diagram). The evaporator coil must be cold at time when you check the defrost thermostat.

Replace if any of them is open.

If there is nothing wrong then replace the adaptive defrost control.

- The part number for the defrost thermostat is AP4247331

- The part number for the defrost heater is AP84072

- The part number for the adaptive defrost control is AP177592

Here are the break down diagrams for the Amana refrigerator Model DRSE663BW
