Model Number: FRS23LH5DQ7 Brand: Frigidaire Age: 1 - 5 years
I replaced the watervalve and know the tray is getting water. The tray made ice, but did not harvest. A repairman told me the icemaker had to be replaced becasue the tray heater isn't working. I found that Sears carries all the individual parts for the icemaker. Can someone lead me to the particular part that will correct this or is it best just to replace the entire icemaker? there is a significant difference in cost of course!

Here are your parts
Replacement parts for Frigidaire FRS23LH5DQ7 Frigidaire/refrigerator | AppliancePartsPros.com Did the repairman actually diagnose the problem or was it just an educated guess. One symptom of a blown tray heater is that the fingers that push the ice out will be down on the ice cubes. I think on this unit this is to the front of the icemaker. The mold (heater) is Item 17 in Section 6 at ~$91.00 It is not that hard to replace but does take some mechanical skill. Also there are other parts in the icemaker which can cause the heater to not come on er: the thermostat, the thermal protect etc. Here is a wiring diagram in case you want to troubleshoot it further. http://manuals.frigidaire.com/prodin.../240389616.pdf I would probably just buy a new icemaker. Not Itemized but is at the bottom of the Section 6 for~$130.00. If you click on a part's picture a new page will ope with more info on that part. it may help you decide which way to go.

Thanks for your help. I will probably just buy a new icemaker. It may not be worth the time to replace one part only to find another part is bad as well. The tech made an educated guess which is what irks me. he was offended that I asked specific quesitons. It is just laziness on his part.

Check where the eject finders are.
If they are not trying to push the cubes out then check the freezer temperature. It should be about 0 degrees F. The ice will not harvest unless the ice maker gets cold enough. Also check the full bin sensor arm/wire.
