My water tank in my kenmore side by side keeps freezing. I have thawed it out the last two days. Refrigerator is full and on lowest setting. There also sounds a fan or motor is going bad in back of the freezer about mid way up. It sputters to start and goes in and out before finally starting.I am sure if the two problems are connected.

Yes they could be related as the fan is responsible for proper air flow in the unit.
I am assuming the fan you are referring to is the evaporator fan in the freezer.

I would replace the fan and then see it that fixes your problem.

I did go to the Sears parts site where they have actual parts breakdown diagrams but could not see a lower vent between the fresh food and freezer but there usually is one. Check for it and that it is clear on both sides.

Thank you for the information. I am taking it apart today to see if it is the evaporator motor. You are correct there is a vent on the bottom between the freezer and fridge. There is nothing obstructing the air flow. Abouth 2 months ago the same thing happened and I unplugged the entire fridge for 24 hours and had no problems until now. If the evaporator motor is responsible for helping with de-icing then this should work or fix part of the problem.
