Model Number: FRS26BRDSB5 Brand: Frigidaire Age: 5 - 10 years
Several times over the past couple of months I have come home to a puddle of water on the floor due to the ice in the ice maker bin melting and draining out the dispenser. The freezer would warm up to 40 degrees or so and eventually cool back down, after some fiddling with the control knobs, unplugging etc...
I have had a repair person out but his troubleshooting skills seemed limited. His first course of action was to replace the start capacitor. Next, the ADC board was replaced. The freezer then seemed to work for about a day and then another thaw occurred. At first I thought it was a defrost problem, but it is now in a state where it has been sitting at 40 degrees for two days. If I turn the fridge control to OFF, the damper closes as expected, but turning the freezer control from its factory setting to something colder will not cause the compressor to kick on. It is as though the system only wants to meet the temp requirements of the fridge thermostat, and the freezer thermostat is ignored completely, so my guess is that the freezer thermostat is bad. Is there a simple test I can perform to confirm this, before I spend another 100 bucks for the thermostat? Thanks. Jim S. Ads By Google Related Models |
