My GE fridge has been making a clicking sound for about a month. I notice the fan in the freezer will start and stop when it clicks until it will finally come on. The water/ice dispenser is also not working and when you hit it the lights on front will go out.

It has been working on and off but then last night it started making rapid clicking sounds and now it is silent will not cool in the fridge or freezer at all.

Looking through the forums I am trying to figure out if it just sounds like the motherboard or if the compressor might also be bad. Thanks for any help.

Hi.

You need to replace the main control board

Part number: WR55X10942
Part number: WR55X10942

It's located at the rear of the fridge under the metal plate.
Unplug the unit before doing anything and read the instructions, you may need to make some adjustments.

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for General Electric GSS25IFRFBB Refrigerator | AppliancePartsPros.com

Got the part and took maybe 10 mins to install it. Now everything works great! Even my water dispenser that had stopped working before the rest of the fridge is now dispensing again.

Thanks for the help.:)

Hi.

Please provide the model number and more detailed describtion of the problem.
Also, if you don't mind the part number of the board you replaced.

Hello.

Check the continuity between three compressor's contacts and from one of them to the ground. If you read the resistance between the contacts and no continuity to the ground you may need to replace the start components

Part number: WR07X10097
Part number: WR07X10097

If that doesn't help - you have a bad compressor.
Remember that the parts purchased from APP can be returned back even if you installed them.

Good luck.

Post the results.

Simon.
