The Sears Refrigerator Kenmore Elite Coldspot 106.54203300 has a design flaw, which was fixed in newer models. I was charged almost $300 to fix it, which consisted of adding a small copper wire at the drain at the bottom of the freezer section. Is this a scam by Sears to make oodles of money on the repair, when they should have recalled the refrigerator and fixed it for free?

The charge was excessive, but this happens to a lot of rerigerators when the freezer temperature gets to super low temperatures usually due to wrong control settings, or a clogged condenser.
