Model Number: TBX18CILBQRWW Brand: GE Age: 5 - 10 years
GE - TBX18CILBQRWW
Freezer on top of single door. What led to the problem? Fridge door was left open overnight on accident. Approximately 8 hours. Next morning it would no longer cool. Freezer completely defrosted over the course of the rest of the day. What have I done? I've left it unplugged for 24 hrs, then plugged it back in and left it for 24 hours. Still wont cool. I've left it unplugged for 4 days. Plugged it in and left it for 24hrs. Still wont cool. Cleaned the coils underneath, of all dust(vaccuum/dust mop). Air can to the back fan and wiring harness. What I know? The fan in the lower back, next to the compressor works. Air blows(flows) into the fridge and also in the freezer section, seemingly unrestricted. No leaks. The door/light switch still works: the light shuts off when pressed. I hear clicking approximately every minute or so, as if something is starting or stopping. Im not 100% sure on how to tell if the compressor is on or not. If anyone can lead me in the right direction or bring me closer to a solution or what to pull out and test for functionality, I would greatly appreciate it. Most likely the problem with your fridge caused by the compressor which can not start (clicking noise).
If the fridge is less then 5 years old - the compressor could be under the manufacturer warranty. If the fridge is not under the warranty, you can: 1. Use a special hard start kit which can help to fix the problem. The success rate is about 65%. It comes with the installation instructions and cost less than $26.00. 2. Replace the compressor. It should be done by a certified technician and will cost you 500 to 600 bucks. 3. Buy a new fridge. - The part number for the hard start kit is AP3539948 Here are the break down diagrams for the GE refrigerator Model TBX18CIBQRWW Gene.
