after a power failure, all seemed fine for about a week but then the GE refridgerator would not keep cool. still, the freezer seemed fine. i looked at other posts and defrosted the freezer coils, but realized my fridge has no mechanical defrost timer.

it all seemed to work well for two weeks. at this time, refridgerator not cool enough and the freezer needs to defrost again.

where should i start to diagnose the problem?

as a side note, about how many freezers die AFTER they have been involved in a power outage? seems like several after reading posts.

I would remove the cover of the motherboard in the back and remove the gray, three pin power connector. Put a wire jumper between the mating pins as labled line and def. on the motherboard. Plug fridg in. If you get defrost action, replace the motherboard.(AP4436216)
