Original problem:
refrigerator lights are flashing, the ice door keeps opening & closing

Like some other people, on this board, I replaced the control board (12920710), plugged unit back in, and it displayed PE0 000. I tried following the instructions but nothing happens. No beeps, only PE ICE or PE H20 if I hit Fridge + and -. No other keys do anything, the unit goes right back to PE0 000.

If I switch back to the old unit, the old problem happens again but the Door Alarm button actually does something. As soon as I switch back to the replacement board the only buttons that do anything are Fridge + and -; Freezer + and - don't do anything, Door Alarm doesn't do anything.

BTW, my first replacement unit didn't come with instructions, I finally found a suggestion on a website that said there is a set of instructions left under the fridge on the right hand side. These were the exact instructions I needed.

Unfortunately, neither of my replacement control boards work. What can I do? All my food has gone bad and my wife and kids are about ready to kill me.

HELP!

My only experience with this control board has been pushing the buttons for too short of time, it takes a few seconds for the module to respond to each button.
Perhaps someone has more info.

Thanks, I've tried 3 seconds, or 5 seconds... I've seen the right behavior of the Door Alarm button with the old board, but the new board acts as if I haven't pressed the key.

One of the other strange things, with the old board the water dispenser button and cup switch don't work. With the replacement boards in those same features do work, but the Door Alarm button doesn't.

I did notice that both of the replacement boards appear to be have v7 of the Software (SW7) for this board, while the original board says SW6.

Thanks

You can try non-residue contact cleaner available at Wall Mart, just spray on the connector.

What part are you thinking that contact cleaner would be good for?

Thanks.

You spray it on the control board connector while pluging it in.
