Compressor part #W10160407, is this a difficult thing to replace? I am mechanically experienced, just not with refrig. Any special tools required?
What is r134a? Refrigerant material? If so, only tech can do this, not a do it yourself kind of thing?

Compressors are not DIY projects. You need to be certified with a refrigeration license. Proper recovery equipment is needed. Special gauges and tools are required. Call a pro, you'll save time and money and a lot of frustration.

Replacing a compressor will be expensive. Often it makes more sense to replace the unit.
Are you sure that it is the compressor that is shot? |

Also check your warranty, it should say in your owners manual. Some sealed system jobs are covered partially for up to ten years. Never hurts to check.
