Model Number: ET20GKXFWOO Brand: Whirlpool Age: More than 10 years
I have a top freezer, that drops of water have been coming from the upper part of the fridge, some of it collects in a cup I put in and the rest fall down to below the crisper into a pool of water. The fridge and freezer work fine, but it's annoying to dry up the water under the crisper every day. I've looked around the forum and now see that it's most likely that my defrost drain is plugged.
I looked in the freezer for the drain and couldn't find any small circle and the component in the fridge doesn't easily pop off and I don't want to mess with the styrofoam in it either. Can someone tell me how to get to the defrost drain in a whirlpool fridge Model ET20GKXFW00, Serial EGO711114, mfg dATE fEB 1997. Do I need to pull it out and look from the back? Any suggestions on how to get to it so that I can put hot water down it to fix it would be great. I've already vacuumed the dust from the coils and the drip pan was dry. Hi.
Look at this diagram under #7 - it's the drip pan. The opening you are looking for is in the middle, covered by ice. Use the blow dryer, hot water, compressed air and a lot of patience. Here is the diagram Unit replacement parts for Whirlpool ET20GKXFW00 REFRIGERATORS AND FREEZERS | AppliancePartsPros.com Good luck .Post the results. Simon.

Remove the back panel inside the freezer and you will see the evaporator.

Well this Saturday I unplugged my fridge and defrosted the freezer, after a few hours I was able to get to the hole, there was ice around and in the hole. So I assume that was the issue. I put a bunch of hot water down there and heard it go into the drip pan. I bent some of the coils but I think that was the only damage, hopefully I fixed it, I guess I won't know for a few days, thanks again for your help
