My icemaker stopped making ice and I noticed frost buildup in the bottom freezer compartment. Loud fan noise followed intermittently. Got service from local LG authorized repair who merely examined and called LG who told him the freezer door seal was leaking causing frost buildup and needed replacing even though the unit is less than two yrs. old. New gasket ordered and when arrived for installation repairman removed back panel of freezer compt. and most of evaporator coil was frozen over. Thawed it out and replace panel about two weeks ago. Plenty of ice next 24 hrs. Now has stopped producing ice again. Spent over $250 on this repair with no resolution of problem. Can anyone help?

It is hard to draw any conclusions as I do not know what the tech did to diagnose the problem.

If it is a door seal problem you would also have seen frost on the walls/food in the freezer.

From your description it sounds more like a defrost problem to me.
