Model Number: TBX25F Brand: GE Age: More than 10 years
Greetings,
Recently, my GE TBX25F fridge is going south on me. The freezer remains cold, though it sometimes is slow to make ice. Unfortunately, the lower portion (refrigerator) will not cool below 50 degrees. I played with the defrost timer, i.e., I spun it with a screwdriver and the fan shut off, then I kept spinning and the fan started up again. I think the timer is good to go. From what I'm reading, my next step would be the defrost thermostat. I don't know where that is located on this unit and I'm having trouble finding good diagrams. If I'm barking up the wrong tree, I would appreciate any guidance. By the way, I unplugged the fridge for 15 hours to let it manually defrost. Since plugging it in 4 hours ago, the refrigerator portion has cooled from 73 degrees to 52 degrees but does not seem to be going much lower. Thoughts? Many thanks, Matt Ads By Google Related Models |

Remove the freezer back panel and describe the frost pattern, total heavy frost, or partial.
If total, heavy frost, remove with a hair dryer and check the defrost thermostat clipped to the top of the evaporator, if bulged, replace.

Richappy, many thanks. Any chance you know where I can find a 'good' diagram of this unit?
