![]() Model Number: JCB2389GRS Brand: Jenn-Air Age: 5 - 10 years
![]() JENN-AIR side-by-side refrigrater/freezer model # JCB2389GRS I have a question regarding the operation of the automatic/thermostatic damper control unit. It is sold as P/N 61005993. It used to be sold as a seperate part (old part# 61005081) but now , already mounted to the housing (old part# 61004375). This mechanical device is located near the left sidewall of the refrigerator side, inside the contol housing. It adjusts the hinged damper door to regulate airflow when the evaporator motor is running. It's function is to help control the air temperature in the refrigerator side, otherwise called the fresh food compartment. The automatic damper control has a white plastic shaft which pushes on the spring loaded damper door. The shaft moves out when the ambient air is warmer and it moves in when colder. It opens the damper door to allow in, more cold air from the evaporator fan when needed. Is there a published range of motion that the white plastic shaft moves. Alternatively, does anyone know how far the tip of the shaft should be from the mounting flange of the control unit when sensing (say for instance) between 20 - 60 F degree air. In other words, how far should the tip of the white plastic shaft be from the mounting flange when cold ? How far when hot ? Has anybody actually mesasured this ? The service manual has a vague test but no actual numbers given for this range of motion. New and used part suppliers apparently do not have this information. I'm not sure if mine is working properly or not and I do not want to buy a new part unless I have to. Any help would be appreciated. Related Models |
