Refrigerator & Freezer Repair

Hello,

Similar to many other users on this subject, my Kenmore side-by-side refrigerator has been warm, and the freezer has been fine for the past 2 weeks. When I remove the back panel of the freezer, the coils are completely frosted over.

Following the great troublehshooting procedures from this site, I have attempted to locate the defrost timer for this unit to test it first. I cannot find it and I am beginning to think this fridge does not have one, or perhaps it's built into the 1. heater-evaporator (PN AP4009926), 2. the thermostat kit (PN AP4247331) or 3. the adaptive defrost board (PN AP4014734).

Is there a way to easily rule out the defrost timer first? I'm not sure which part to buy, but it has to be one of those 3.

The adaptive defrost board (PN AP4014734) is also called a Defrost Timer Board the manufacturer's part number is (12566102). They are the same thing.
