I have a 40 year old Frigidaire refirgerator. The fan has stopped operating. The compressor is running, but the air is not being circulated. How do I get to the fan, and is the part available? Thanks.

I cannot find info on a FPCI170TT but a FPCI18 does come up, see below.
Replacement parts for FPCI170TT models | AppliancePartsPros.com

If you look at FPCI18TCH0 is it similar to your unit.
If yes then the evaporator/freezer fan (Item 7 in Section 16) may be the same as yours. Click on it's picture for more views and info on it.

Check for power (120 volts) at the fan if it is there then the fan is toast.

Best to call them as they may have your model parts list but it just may not come up on the website.

All you will need is the model number of the fridge and you should be able to order a new fan.

Thanks for your reply. But my unit dosen't have a fan in the bottom. It is near the freezer.

Thanks for your reply. I found the fan part number from an old invoice from 1979, the last time it was replaced. The part is still available. My next question is how do I get to the fan motor? Is it from the Freezer section or from the lower refrigerator section?
Thanks,
Dterry

It is in the freezer.
If you look at Section 16 of the parts it may help.

Also often to get the rear cover off you have to remove screws and they conveniently hide them under the rear cover gasket/seal.
Looking at the diagram you may not even have to take the freezer rear cover off.

Thanks for your help. I finally got it fixed. To get to the fan, I had to remove the shelf and partition in the freezer along with the bottom panel of the freezer. That gave me access to the fan. The problem turned out to be a blocked drain in the tray below the cooling coils. The fan was frozen in the ice. Once I melted the ice the fan would run. Another possibility could be a bad drain heater. I didn't check it. This 40 year old refrigerator has only required two other repairs. The fan was replaced in 1979, and the defrost timer in 1992. Not bad for 40 years. Thanks for everyone's help.
