Hi,

Is Part Details - WHIRLPOOL Housing assy., auto, part number: AP4069713
the Damper Control for a Myatag MSD2756DEW? I'm trying to solve the FF
compartment not getting cold enough. The evaporator coil is not freezing up.
I'm getting minimal air flow out of the supply baffle so I figure I'd try replacing the damper control. Any step, by step procedure for replacing this?

I would first check the air return vent on the left side of the fridg, behind the crisper drawer.
If no clog, pull out the whole control panel (you can get a view of this on this parts site) and check the damper door, may be jammed shut, it should be open at room temperature.

Already checked that. BTW, how does the temperature control work on this
type of Refrig?

The way I am reading it is, the FF temp control regulates how much freezer air goes into the FF comparment. It does not control the compressor/fan operation, the freezer temp control does that. When the frig temp control
calls for cooling, it opens the damper door until the temp is satisfied, correct? So nothing really happens until the freezer temp control kicks in.

Would you recd. chaning the temperature contol unit since I will be taking things apart? The part is not too expensive.

I have never seen these fail. Have seen springs pop off, just remove assembly as suggested, but first measure freezer temperature, probably below zero.

Can somebody explain the functioning of the freezer and refrig. temp controls
on auto dampering type referigs. I understand that the refrig control is used to determine for far the damper opens, but a call for cooling by the refrig temp control does not start the compressor/condensor cycle. Its a call by the freezer temp sensor that does this, correct?

Both controls sense the air temp. coming from the freezer, one turns the compressor off and on.
